Shirriffs

Shirriffs: На самом деле это устаревшая форма английского слова "шериф" (должностное лицо в графстве), которой я воспользовался, чтобы подчеркнуть связь с Shire. В книге считается, что слова "Shirriff" и "Shire" специфичны для хоббитов, не имеют широкого распространения во всеобщем языке описываемого времени и, таким образом, происходят от их прежнего языка, родственного языку рохиррим. Следовательно, это слово не относится к всеобщему, а принадлежит местному диалекту и его не обязательно переводить, а достаточно приспособить его написание к стилю языка перевода. Однако же начало этого слова должно походить на то название, которое соответствует в переводе названию Shire (см. соответствующую статью).
